Three Pillars of Investment
Guided by our Core Values and the directives outlined in our Governance, Voice of Indian Head is chartered to deliver meaningful community impact in the Town of Indian Head, Maryland, and surrounding communities. We invest our time, effort, and financial resources across three pillars of commitment:
IMPACT
We deliver Impact by investing directly in charitable organizations, promoting their work, and partnering with them to strengthen the Town of Indian Head and surrounding communities.
AWARENESS
We cultivate Awareness by curating and sharing relevant local information, and by fostering open discourse in both our physical and digital town squares.
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
We build Community Strength by encouraging and rewarding civic engagement at the town and county levels, and by celebrating those who serve.
WHY THESE Pillars MATTER
We consider these three pillars foundational to a strong community.
-
Impact: By channeling resources into charitable works—our own and those of aligned organizations—we elevate quality of life, improve outcomes, and inspire positive transformational change.
-
Awareness: By ensuring information is distributed openly in a shared forum, we create a common foundation for understanding and participation. Healthy discourse, broad visibility of community happenings, and thriving Voices.
-
Civic Engagement: By promoting and celebrating active participation in local government and community life, we ensure transparency, shared vision, a government working for us, and direction rooted in our community’s values.
Together, these pillars give Voice to Indian Head and contribute to the foundation of a stronger, more connected future for us all.

Governance
Operations & Oversight
Voice of Indian Head operates as a Component Fund of Chesapeake Charities, within the Community Foundation of Southern Maryland portfolio. Our activities are subject to independent oversight by Chesapeake Charities’ Board of Directors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as IRS requirements for 501(c)(3) organizations. All fundraising campaigns and disbursements undergo ethics and legal review before approval.
Non-Discrimination
Our work is guided by our core values and commitment to inclusivity and fairness. We prohibit racism and any form of disparate investment based on race, religion, politics, or other protected categories. Voice of Indian Head complies fully with federal civil rights laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), or age.
We invest only in programs with inclusive community impact. For example, we may support a food bank or tutoring program operated by a local church, so long as services are offered to all and funds are used for community benefit—not to advance a denomination or enrich the church itself. Similarly, programs serving youth, seniors, veterans, or people with disabilities are welcome when their benefits clearly extend across the broader community.
These guidelines are not judgments against organizations that fall outside them; they simply reflect our commitment to unifying, inclusive initiatives.
Political Neutrality
Voice of Indian Head is and will remain strictly non-partisan. We may provide commentary on public policy or official actions when they affect our community, but we do not endorse or oppose candidates or political parties.
Elected officials may attend or participate in our events in their official capacity, but such participation is not a campaign activity and does not imply endorsement. We will not host or support events that could reasonably be construed as political campaign activity.
Transparency
We believe every donor deserves to know how resources are used. We commit to publishing periodic reports outlining our activities and investments. With the exception of legally protected or anonymous donor information, we are open to sharing details of our operations with interested community members.
Operating within a Component Fund of Chesapeake Charities also ensures strong stewardship of donor resources, high ethical standards, and lower administrative costs. Questions or concerns may be directed to us via our Contact page, or to Chesapeake Charities directly at:
