An Incredible Local Career Move Starts Here

A meaningful job opportunity is coming right here to Indian Head, and for many in our community, it could open the door to a strong next chapter.

On Thursday, April 23, 2026, the Energetics Job Fair will bring together employers hiring for technical, scientific, manufacturing, and project leadership roles tied to advanced energetics, defense technologies, and mission systems. The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the College of Southern Maryland Velocity Center, located at 4465 Indian Head Highway in Indian Head.

For our town and the surrounding area, this matters.

These are not distant opportunities happening somewhere else. They are connected to substantial federal revitalization investment in our region and to important national defense missions that rely on highly skilled people, steady teams, and local talent. That means this job fair is about more than a single day of hiring. It is about building pathways for our neighbors to find good work, grow careers, and take part in the future being shaped around us.

Employers highlighted for the fair include ERG, ARA, Energetics Technology Center, X-Bow, USBTA, Platform Aerospace, and additional hiring partners with online job postings connected through event materials. Together, they represent a serious mix of organizations seeking talent for critical technical programs and mission support.

The career fields represented are broad and promising. Organizers list opportunities in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, design engineering, machine learning, data science, warhead and fuzing support, senior chemist and scientist roles, manufacturing engineering, MEP and construction management, and project and program management. For residents with technical backgrounds, military-adjacent experience, manufacturing skills, or an interest in moving into a growing field, this is the kind of event worth showing up for.

There are also important eligibility notes to keep in mind. U.S. citizenship is required, and many roles call for an active security clearance or the ability to obtain one. That will not fit every applicant, but for many in our area, especially those with relevant experience or interest in supporting mission-focused work, it may be a strong match.

What stands out most to us is that this fair creates a chance for local people to make local connections. It puts employers, opportunities, and community members in the same room. It gives job seekers the ability to ask questions, understand what these organizations are looking for, and present themselves directly. In a time when many applications disappear into online systems, that face-to-face moment still matters.

Voice of Indian Head wants to help our community show up ready.

In the lead-up to the fair, we are offering resume reviews and mock interviews for anyone in the community who feels they would benefit from a little extra preparation. Not everyone has someone to look over a resume. Not everyone feels fully confident walking into a hiring event. That should never be the reason a neighbor misses an opportunity. Sometimes a few practical adjustments, a stronger introduction, or a little practice answering questions can make all the difference.

To schedule a resume review or mock interview, just hit us up on any of our social media channels or our CONTACT US page.

If you are planning to attend, now is a good time to prepare. Review the participating employers and their openings ahead of time. Apply online where requested before the event. Bring copies of your resume. Dress neatly, be ready to introduce yourself, and come prepared to talk about your experience, your interests, and the kind of work you hope to do next.

This is the kind of moment our town should rally around. When opportunity comes close to home, we should help our neighbors reach it. When new investment takes root in our region, we should do our part to ensure local residents are ready to step forward. That is how awareness becomes impact. That is how community support turns into real momentum for families.

We encourage residents, veterans, graduates, career changers, and experienced professionals alike to take a serious look at this event. Whether you are actively searching, quietly exploring, or simply curious about where the local job market is heading, the Energetics Job Fair is worth your attention.

Let’s show up prepared, encourage one another, and make sure our community is part of the future being built here.

Together, we build a better Indian Head.
