Nominations are open for the 2026 Community Champion of the Year Award. You know the person. They notice a need, bring people together, and keep showing up. Help Indian Head recognize their service.

Voice of Indian Head, in partnership with the Town of Indian Head, invites you to nominate a neighbor, mentor, colleague, or community builder whose care for our community shows up in what they do.

Nominate by November 29, 2026Submit the nomination form by 11:59 p.m. Eastern.

Celebrate on December 5, 2026The honoree will be announced immediately after the tree lighting at the Town Holiday Festival.

The work may be quiet. Its impact deserves to be seen.

It happens when someone makes sure a family has what they need, gives a young person encouragement, organizes neighbors around a shared purpose, or follows through long after the event is over. These everyday acts of service help our community thrive.

The Community Champion of the Year Award celebrates that commitment. We are looking for the stories behind the good: the people who act with integrity, show compassion, and make a meaningful difference for Indian Head and its immediate surrounding communities.

Service can happen through a paid professional role, through volunteering, or through the care someone offers their neighbors. Tell us what the person has done and why it matters.

Recognition that gives back.

Along with public recognition, VOIH will make a $2,000 charitable donation in the honoree’s name to a qualifying local 501(c)(3) organization of their choice that serves the Indian Head community. Their example of service will help more good happen here.

Tell us about someone who shows up.

A nominee does not have to live here for their service to Indian Head and its immediate surrounding communities to count. Self-nominations are welcome. Use specific examples to help us understand their contribution:

  • What have they done? Describe the work, the need they noticed, and how they responded.
  • Who has benefited? Tell us how their actions have helped people in our community.
  • What makes their service stand out? Share the commitment, care, and follow-through you have seen.

The nomination form includes the eligibility and award details. Please use it to submit your story so we can review the nomination and contact the nominee.
