Run, walk, and support the arts in Southern Maryland. Mattawoman Creek Art Center’s Halloween fundraiser welcomes runners and walkers of all ages for a 5K through the natural surroundings of Smallwood State Park.
A fun run for the whole community
Most of the course follows paved surfaces and includes a long footbridge over the park’s wetlands. Strollers are welcome behind the runners, and people-friendly dogs may join on a leash. Chip timing will not be used—this is a fun run and walk.
Plan your morning
- 8:30–9:45 AM: Same-day registration and packet pickup
- 9:45–9:55 AM: Runner warm-up
- 10:00 AM: 5K run begins
- 10:10 AM: 5K walk begins
- 12:00–12:30 PM: Awards presentation
Halloween fun and awards
- $100 cash prizes for the top female and male finishers
- Costume prizes for adults and youth
- Prizes for the best-dressed pup and best-dressed pair
- A pumpkin scavenger hunt
Know before you go
The event’s rain date is Sunday, November 1. Registration fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable, including if the race is canceled. Participants must accept MCAC’s event release during registration.
One hundred percent of event proceeds go directly to Mattawoman Creek Art Center, supporting the creation, appreciation, and availability of visual fine arts in Southern Maryland.
